Dallas County Jail Overview
Dallas County Jail, also called Dallas County Detention Center in federal materials, is the only detention facility listed in the Dallas County Facility Map. The jail is operated by the Dallas County Sheriff's Office in Fordyce. The official jail page says the building was completed in October 1999 and is an all-male holding facility. It also states that Dallas County does not house females in county, which is important when a female arrestee appears in a booking path or is moved through another agency.

Dallas County Jail Capacity
Dallas County publishes a facility capacity number but not a full annual jail statistics dashboard. The official jail page states that Dallas County Jail has capacity for 125 inmates. The public RPS roster showed 111 total current inmates on May 28, 2026, with 10 displayed on the first page. That roster number is a point-in-time count, not an annual average daily population. It should not be treated as a county resident incarceration rate because the roster can include federal, other-agency, and Arkansas DOC 309-related holds.
The roster snapshot was below the stated capacity on that date, but Dallas County did not publish a multi-day overcrowding report, annual booking total, average stay, or formal demographic table. The public roster does show race, sex, and age on individual cards, but that is not the same as a county demographic report.

The correct online lookup for Dallas County Jail is the RPS/myR2M roster linked from the sheriff's site. It is free and no public login was observed. The roster is not a simple first-name and last-name search form. It uses current, new, and recent-release tabs, a Select Name dropdown, sort controls, and page-size choices. Visit Dallas County Jail
Dallas County publishes more detail about remote communication than in-person visitation. The sheriff FAQ does not give a full in-person visitation schedule. The county's Inmate Phone and Visitation page routes users to NCIC for phone, video visits, messages, and picture messages. For any in-person or attorney visit, call Dallas County Jail before traveling and bring government photo identification.

The county says each inmate receives telephone access after booking is complete and that private-use telephones are located in each housing area. Three-way calls are prohibited.
Dallas County Jail Mail Money
Dallas County Jail uses a strict mail split. Ordinary personal mail is not accepted at the local jail except for money orders, legal mail, and medical mail. The sheriff's FAQ page also gives local money-deposit and bond guidance. Personal letters go to a scanning address in Longview, Texas. The sender must include the inmate name, inmate number or booking/jacket number, and a return address. The mailing must fit the published size limit, use front-side pages only, and contain no more than one photo.

Dallas County Jail Booking
A person arrested in Dallas County or held on a warrant is transported to Dallas County Jail for intake unless another agency handles the custody path. A federal prisoner may appear on the Dallas County roster while physically booked or held under a USMS relationship, but long-term sentenced federal custody is searched through the BOP locator.
